Required Documentation

In support of the MERS® System Membership Application of your organization (the “Applicant”), you are required to submit additional documents, which vary based upon organization type. Below is the full list of required documentation by organization type and lines of business.

Private Companies:

  • Verification of Applicant’s legal name, as supported by regulatory or other official documentation (e.g., articles of incorporation/organization, lender’s license, etc.)
  • Declarations page from errors & omissions policy or copy of surety bond
  • Verification of good standing from Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS) for the Applicant’s lending license
  • Primary lending license for the principal of the Applicant

Publicly Traded Organizations (includes government entities):

  • Verification of Applicant’s legal name, as supported by regulatory or other official documentation (e.g., articles of incorporation/organization, lender’s license, 10-K, etc.)

Banks and Credit Unions:

  • Verification of Applicant’s legal name, as supported by regulatory or other official documentation (e.g., articles of incorporation/organization, lender’s license, etc.)
  • Certification from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), or a state banking authority.

Vendors:

  • Verification of Applicant’s legal name, as supported by regulatory or other official documentation (e.g., articles of incorporation/organization, lender’s license, etc.)
